Reading
We will be reading some non-fiction texts about weather this week. We will be practicing our comprehension strategy "inferring" while reading the non-fiction text. Our story of the week is Mayday! Mayday! It is about a coast guard rescue during a storm.
Phonics
We will learn/sort words by vowel sound (short and long). We will learn some consonant blends and keep reviewing the consonant digraphs /sh/, /ch/, /th/, and /wh/.
Math
We are learning to compare numbers to 20. New math vocabulary this week is fewest, fewer, more, and most.
Social Studies
We are going to do a special lesson on teasing since that has been an issue in the class a bit of late. Please have a discussion with your child about if they are teased and why it is not okay.
