March 28-31

Reading
Our book of the week is non-fiction text about spring. We will focus on informational text and compare/contrast it to fictional text. Also, we will continue with the comprehension skill of asking questions.

Writing
We will be writing non-fiction text about spring.

Math
We will wrap-up chapter 12 by learning how to tell "how many more" and "how many fewer". We will also review patterns.

Science
We will continue with our egg/chic exploration. We will learn all about the changes in our environments during spring.

Social Studies
Feelings

We will have our spelling test on Thursday again.

Also, Thursday is our end of the month Classdojo party!!! If your child receives a certificate by Wednesday they may bring popcorn and wear their pajamas on Thursday for a fun end of the month activity.

THERE WILL BE NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY, APRIL 1ST.

March 21-24

Reading
We will be finishing up our Dr. Seuss Madness tournament. We have four books left and one will be crowned champion this week.
Our book of the week is On the Same Day in March. It focuses on the different climate/weather around the world in March. Our comprehension skill is still "asking questions".

Math
Counting on and counting back. (i.e. 6 and 4 make 10)

Writing
Students will be interviewing and writing non-fiction stories about a classmate.

Social Studies
Geography

Science
Weather/climate, spring, environmental changes

March 14-18

Reading
Due to my love of March Madness and Dr. Seuss books we will be having "Dr. Seuss March Madness" this week. Dr. Seuss books will be put against each other, read, and voted on to see which book will be crowned champ! We will be doing this room 108 as well.

Phonics
Rhyming review (Dr. Seuss books)

Math
We will be reviewing skills from chapters 7-10 while also focusing on days of the week and months of the year. Students will be bringing home their very own 2016 calendar. Please keep this and use it with your child to develop their concept of time and enhance their knowledge of the days and months.

Writing
We will be focusing on writing non-fiction this week and the rest of March.
